Moss twins take out Sydney Monster Energy Super X event

Saturday November 27, 2010; Australia’s riding twins and Rockstar Motul Suzuki team mates, Jake and Matt Moss, both finished first in their respective classes at the penultimate round of the Monster Energy Super X series in Parramatta tonight.

Jake Moss

Jake took out a drama filled Open final whilst Matt was impressive all night for a dominant win in the Lites.

The Quad challenge format featured in the Open class with each race having a different winner.
Hansen claimed the first of the four, six lap races in a dominant performance leaving Scotland’s Billy Mackenzie in his first ever Super X and supercross race in second and Jay Marmont third.

In the second moto Dan McCoy and Jay Marmont were neck and neck for the whole race after Hansen got stuck back in the pack at the start. McCoy managed to hold on for the win with Marmont second and Daniel Reardon in third. Hansen finished eighth with a bent gear shift that forced him to race in one gear for the entire race.

Mackenzie took the third holeshot of the night with Hansen close behind and Jake Moss third. The two Kawasaki riders were neck and neck in the final lap, but the Scot held off Hansen for the win. Moss held on for third.

Mackenzie claimed the final holeshot of the night and Hansen once again got stuck back in the pack. Mackenzie, Marmont and Moss were all within a bike length of one another up front for most of the race, until Marmont took a dive in the sand section. On the same lap Mackenzie went off the side of the track allowing Moss to pass. Mackenzie and Marmont swapped second and third places numerous times throughout the race, but it was Moss who grabbed the win with Mackenzie second and Marmont third.

Open Podium

Moss was first overall on a count back with Mackenzie second and Marmont third.

Jake Moss (AUS)
“It was so awesome to get the win tonight especially with Matt winning too. I was riding really tight all night, but everything just came together for me in the final.”

Billy Mackenzie (SCO)
“I am really happy with my result tonight and I did so much better than I ever could have expected. I have been training supercross for a month, but the last couple of weeks have been tough after the accident with Harley Quinlan. I was with him when it happened so riding has been hard. I had some really good starts tonight which were really important on this track because it was hard to pass.”

Jay Marmont (AUS)
“It’s always good to be on the podium, but I am disappointed I went down in the sand in the last race. I was leading overall before that and in a good position for the win, but at least I finished ahead of Hansen. Mossy has been gaining points on me the last couple of rounds so I really need some wins in Brisbane.”

The unforgiving Survival format featured in the Lites final and the final five lap race of five riders was down to Matt Moss, Josh Cachia, Lawson Bopping, Kade Mosig and Ford Dale, with championship leader PJ Larsen forced to withdraw with bike troubles to finish seventh.

Matt Moss

Team mates Lawson Bopping and Matt Moss battled for first and second at the start of the race, but shortly after Moss made the pass, Bopping collided with Mackie allowing Cachia to move into second and pushing Bopping back to third.

Lites Podium

The Championship lead has now been passed back to Moss with PJ Larsen only five points behind going into the final round in Brisbane next weekend.

Young gun Dylan Long made it four wins from four in the Michelin Development Series with Jarrad Davis second and Luke Clout third.

The final round of the series will be held at QSAC stadium in Brisbane next Saturday December 4.

Josh Hansen dominates in a mud soaked Dunedin Super X event

Saturday November 20, 2010; Wet and treacherous conditions prevailed at round five of the Monster Energy Super X event in Dunedin tonight, allowing Monster Energy Kawasaki / Pro Circuit’s Josh Hansen, to demonstrate his skill on the slippery track to win both motos in the Double Header final. Rockstar Motul Suzuki’s Matt Moss was the overall winner in the Lites.

Hansen was the only rider to stay relatively clean as he claimed both holeshots and never looked back in the 2, 12 lap final races, pushing him further ahead of CDR Rockstar Yamaha’s Jay Marmont in the overall championship standings.

JDR Motorex KTM’s Tye Simmonds rode the best he has all season to claim second in the first moto and third in the second after a great battle with Rockstar Motul Suzuki’s Jake Moss.

Matt Moss

Moss made a great pass on Simmonds on the final corner of the second race to pip Simmonds at the post. Moss and Simmonds tied on round points with Moss claiming second on a count back.

Josh Hansen

Josh Hansen (USA)
“That was a scary one, especially with points. It was super wet, very muddy and a lot of lappers. Starts were really important and I had to be consistent and smart out there. It’s great to have the support I have behind me. Big thanks to everyone who has made it possible to be here and Troy Carroll from the Kawasaki Racing Team for all his help. This series is really cool and has been a lot of fun.”

Jake Moss (AUS)
“I just pushed hard the whole race and finally got the pass to pull it off. Thanks to all of my family and sponsors for all of their ongoing support.”

Tye Simmonds (AUS)
“It was a tough night, but it was good fun racing in the mud. It doesn’t rain much in Bourke so overall it was an awesome night. I really want to thank RACESAFE for helping me out.”

Cody Cooper

The first of two eight lap races in the Double Header final for the Lites was a nail biter with Rockstar Motul Suzuki’s Matt Moss and Raceline Pirelli Suzuki’s Steven Clarke engaging in a back and forth battle for the lead, with Clarke the eventual winner after overtaking Moss on the second last corner. Championship leader PJ Larsen was third.

Moss had a dominant win in the second final with Larsen second and Kawasaki Racing Team Cool Air Conditioning’s Cody Mackie third.

Larsen still leads the championship, but is only four points ahead of Moss and JDR Motorex KTM’s Ryan Marmont is third.
The penultimate round of the championship will be held at Parramatta Stadium this Saturday November 27.

PRESS RELEASE: Jaime Mortimer; GAS

Saturday November 13, 2010

America’s Josh Hansen has won the fourth round of the Monster Energy Super X championship at North Harbour Stadium in Auckland, winning three of four races in the Quad Challenge final.

The event had its fair share of thrills and spills with the great track providing a fast and technical start and many line options. Monster Energy / Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Hansen, who went into the round leading the championship after three runner up finishes, was dominant all night with the fastest qualifying and three holeshots in the final. CDR Rockstar Yamaha’s Jay Marmont was the only rider able to grab a race off him in the final moto.

Hansen was first overall with three wins and one third, Marmont was second with two third places, one second and one first, and Rockstar Motul Suzuki’s Jake Moss claimed third overall with three second places and one third.

Hansen extended his championship lead to put him 32 points ahead of Marmont and Jake Moss moves into third overall.

Josh Hansen (USA)
“I am super stoked to get the win. I would have loved to win all four, but I guess I can’t be greedy. I am so happy Monster Energy was able to bring me out here for Super X because I am loving this place, the series and the people.”

Jay Marmont (AUS)
“It’s a relief to finally get a win and I enjoyed racing tonight. I finally got the start I wanted to in the final race and it paid off.”

Jake Moss (AUS)
“It feels good to be on the podium and I am really happy with the way I rode tonight. I really want to thank my team and family for all the support they have given me.”

New Zealand supercross star Ben Townley had a very unlucky fall in his heat race and was forced to withdraw from the event with a suspected hip injury.

The Lites final once again kept the fans on the edge of their seat with America’s PJ Larsen the eventual overall winner in the Triple Challenge. He rode himself in to two first places and one third. His team mate for JDR Motorex KTM, Ryan Marmont, finished second overall with one second and two fourths and Luke Styke third overall with one third and two, sixth places.

Matt Moss had a collision with Kawasaki Racing Team Cool Air Conditioning’s Luke Arbon in the second moto and was unable to start his bike until the final lap to finish. He finished fourth overall.

Larsen now moves into first place in the championship, nine points ahead of Moss. Marmont sits in third.
The series now heads south to Dunedin for the fifth round at Carisbrook stadium on Saturday November 20.

All riders spared a thought for young rider Harley Quinlan, who had a severe crash during training during the week, with all of them wishing him and his family well.
