First podium in 2011 for Ducati-AMG

The first podium in 2011 for the Ducati-AMG partnership was achieved in spectacular style last weekend when the Ducati-branded AMG SLS GT3 scored an impressive third place at the Dubai 24 Hour.

As part of the agreement signed between Ducati and the Stuttgart-based car makers last November, the rear wings of all three cars entered proudly carried the Ducati logo, an exercise that will be reciprocated with the AMG brand displayed on the 2011 Ducati MotoGP Team bikes and riders’ leathers.

Team Black Falcon clinched the impressive podium position in their Dubai 24 Hour debut, with all three Mercedes Benz AMG SLS GT3s crossing the line to complete a positive Arab Emirates marathon weekend and further fine-tuning the model before its delivery to the public.

The AMG logo on all Ducati Marlboro Team bikes and racing suits

Bologna (Italy) – Starting with the 2011 MotoGP season, the AMG logo will be featured on the bodywork of the Ducati Marlboro Team bikes and on riders' leather suits. Since the official partnership was announced in Los Angeles on the 18th of November, AMG's sponsorship of Ducati has become even more high-profile. This is further proof of the constructive and enthusiastic collaboration between the high-performance company from Affalterbach and Italy's number one name in motorcycle sports. Ola Källenius, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, and Gabriele del Torchio, President and CEO of Ducati Motor Holding, announced the news today at a press conference held at the Ducati Museum the day before the opening of the Bologna MotorShow.

“Following the official launch of our partnership during the AutoShow in Los Angeles, I'm very pleased and proud to be here in Italy, at the Ducati Museum in Bologna to announce the first concrete development in this strategic collaboration between Ducati and AMG. As of next season, AMG will make its debut in the MotoGP world championship as a proud sponsor on the bikes and racing suits of the Ducati Marlboro Team's factory riders. AMG and Ducati are perfect partners both on the racetrack and on the road as both our companies share the same values. The key message put across by both companies is an expression of our innate passion for racing, high performance and exclusivity. Through this long-term partnership we will be able to create innovative opportunities for the Clients that we have in common,” declared Ola Källenius, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.

“We're really happy to have formed this partnership with AMG, a company which in every way shares the values that we believe in, such as high performance, fair play, sophistication and unmistakeable style and design. The decision to make the link between us even more high profile by displaying the AMG logo on the bodywork of our bikes and on our riders' racing suits underlines the harmony that exists between our two companies. This is a prestigious partnership to add to our other MotoGP sponsors, Phillip Morris, Generali, Enel and TIM,” commented Gabriele del Torchio, President and CEO of Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A.

As well as sponsoring the MotoGP team and renewing the Bologna-based company's fleet of cars and industrial vehicles, the partnership between AMG and Ducati will involve a number of shared marketing initiatives. For example, at the Bologna MotorShow, the new Ducati Diavel and the 1198 SP Superbike model will be on display in the Mercedes-AMG area, making it even more special and providing an extra reason for motorcycle fans to visit the MotorShow and the Mercedes-Benz stand. Several other initiatives are currently being finalised and will soon be presented to the public. At exclusive events and at the AMG Driving Academy, enthusiasts will be able to test-drive the Ducati range while it will be possible to experience the thrill of driving high-performance AMG vehicles at Ducati events such as the Ducati Riding Experience. There will also be a number of joint events put on for members of the AMG Private Lounge, which currently includes over 13,000 AMG Clients all over the world.

The two companies are also working on other marketing activities and strategies, which will be ready to be unveiled in the near future.

Ducati and AMG: racing, high performance, exclusivity
Founded in 1926, Ducati has built motorcycles with a sports character since 1946: bikes with high-performance Desmodromic engines, innovative design and cutting-edge technology. The Ducati range of motorcycles covers various market segments with different technical characteristics and styles to suit different riders. These include the Superbike, Desmosedici RR, Streetfighter, Monster, Multistrada, Hypermotard and the brand-new Diavel. Genuine icons of Italian style, the Ducati bikes are sold in 86 countries throughout the world – with the highest sale figures in the European, North American and Japanese markets. Ducati is currently involved in both the World Superbike Championships and (with a factory team) in the World MotoGP Championship. The Italian manufacturer has won sixteen out of the last twenty Superbike Manufacturers’ World titles as well as securing the Riders’ World title thirteen times. Among the leaders of the MotoGP since its debut in 2003, Ducati won both the Manufacturers’ and the Riders’ titles at the end of the 2007 season.

The Bologna-based manufacturer has achieved worldwide fame and a name that's synonymous with high performance and cutting-edge technology, racing success and original design – an image in perfect harmony with AMG's own.

AMG: three letters that are known worldwide to represent character, dynamism and exclusivity. Over the past forty years, Mercedes-AMG GmbH has evolved from simply customising luxury vehicles to enhance their sports nature, to actually manufacturing cars. Nowadays, AMG is the high-performance brand of the Mercedes-Benz Cars division, a brand that specialises in creating unique vehicles at the top of their range in terms of performance and exclusivity. The AMG range has something to fulfil the requirements of even the most demanding clients: saloon cars, estates, SUVs, coupés, convertibles, roadsters as well as limited edition special series and even exclusive one-off models. The AMG brand is responsible for such aspects as design, streamlining, interiors, transmission, engines, chassis, brakes and electronics. They also test drive all new AMG models and work independently on all the main procedures for the marketing and sale of the vehicles and their dedicated accessories. Leading on from all of this, the idea for the AMG Performance Centres was conceived during the brand's most successful year to date. There are 175 AMG Performance Centres altogether including six in Italy – veritable centres of expertise at the service of all our clients and the supporters of our brand.

Ducati to cooperate with AMG

Los Angeles (USA) – Ducati and AMG will work together closely in the future. The initial aim of the cooperation between the performance brand from Affalterbach and the Italian manufacturer of high-performance motorcycles is to develop common marketing activities. The cooperation agreement was signed today, during a press conference at the Los Angeles Auto Show, by Gabriele del Torchio, President and CEO of Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A and Ola Källenius, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.

"We are especially proud to have AMG as one of our sponsors for the Ducati MotoGP Team. I am also very pleased that our joint marketing activities are well under way. In AMG we have found a partner who perfectly reflects our brand values of high performance, motorsport, excitement and our sense of unmistakable style and design," said Gabriele del Torchio, President and CEO of Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A.

"I am very pleased that we are able to announce our strategic cooperation with Ducati today. AMG and Ducati ideally complement each other, as both companies share the same values: racing as the driving passion, and high performance plus exclusivity as the central brand messages of both AMG and Ducati. This long-term cooperation will help us to jointly access new customer groups," said Ola Källenius, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.

The first visible results of the cooperation between Ducati and AMG will be joint marketing and sponsoring activities. AMG will support the Ducati MotoGP Team as the Official Car Partner from 2011, for example. During selected AMG events, participants will be able to test ride Ducati motorcycles, and Ducati customers will similarly have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the latest AMG high-performance cars at events.

Joint events are planned for the members of the AMG Private Lounge, in which more than 13,000 AMG customers worldwide are registered. The partners are currently examining the further activities and strategic steps they might undertake together in the near future.

It not only takes AMG into a new era, but also demonstrates development expertise of the very highest order. AMG's special focus is on the heart of any automobile, namely the engine. The company's core expertise in developing and producing powerful engines has been assiduously perfected right from the start. SPECTACULAR NEW DUCATIS UNVEILED

Carcano Theatre, Milan, Italy - 1 November 2010

Spectacular Ducati Diavel finally unveiled and brand new Monster 1100EVO revealed

Ducati open their EICMA 2010 week in pure Italian style with the first public unveiling of the Ducati Diavel literally taking centre stage of the Carcano Theatre alongside the brand new Monster 1100EVO. The Press Conference event held in the heart of Milan launches the Italian manufacturer’s proud exhibition of new models at EICMA’s 68th Milan International Motorcycle Show held at the Fiera Rho from 4-7 November.

Before the unveiling and detailing of Ducati’s new models, Gabriele Del Torchio, President of Ducati Motor Holding took the opportunity to announce positive commercial results with further confirmation of the Italian manufacturer’s stable footing during a difficult period for the industry:

“2010 has been a year of great opportunity for Ducati and despite the difficult market environment, we have seen our market share double in the last three years, from 4.3% to 8.6%. By the end of 2010 we expect a sales growth of 6%
compared to last year, a growth that is testimony to Ducati’s capacity to react, even during a contraction in the market. Essentially, we owe this to the creation of specific strategies within our 2007-2010 industrial plan. We continue to base the pillars of our strategy on loyalty to our mission: To be specialists and segment leaders in the sport bike sector, while working with determination on the development of highly innovative new products. This mission enables us to expand into new market segments like the Diavel, which we unveil here at EICMA.”

Mr. Del Torchio went on to explain: “Engineering quality and excitement quality are key elements of our development process. The engineering quality of our product has grown significantly over the last three years and now positions us at the apex of European industry. The excellent excitement quality, increasingly important in this competitive environment, is demonstrated by the unmistakable Italian style of our bikes and by their performance which delivers enhanced enjoyment and safety for our customers, whether on the road or the track.”

General Manager of Ducati Motor Holding, Claudio Domenicali, had the pleasure of introducing the big news of Ducati’s model year 2011 range:

“We are here at EICMA this week with a series of important innovations that are totally in line with our strategic industrial plan and the Diavel is, without doubt, the most exciting innovation in our 2011 line-up because it represents a new concept of motorcycle. It is a naked because it is essential, light and agile; a cruiser because it is imposing and also comfortable with a passenger; and a sports bike because it has a powerful heart, muscles, and levels of performance that take your breath away.”

“Until now,” Mr. Domenicali continued, “no segment has ever captured these characteristics in just one bike. We are extremely satisfied with the Diavel, it represents the very concept of ‘sport’ and celebrates all that Ducati has achieved in recent years. If the Multistrada 1200 represents the perfect synthesis between functionality and performance, the Diavel creates a new interpretation of performance, this time combined with technology and design. The new Monster 1100EVO and 848EVO, in addition to many other technical and style updates in the range, completes the 2011 range of which we are particularly proud.”

The centre of attention at Ducati’s Press Conference is undoubtedly the Ducati Diavel, hailed as the new shape of power and style. The innovative new Diavel combines decades of twin-cylinder heritage and Italian style with a bold, world-beating technical confidence strong enough to extend the boundaries of motorcycle design. Custom shop beauty, state-of-the-art technology, innovative design and extraordinary riding pleasure have been masterfully blended into the Diavel, a motorcycle destined to shape the future.

Built to have a commanding presence, though lightweight and agile like all Ducatis, the Diavel is designed to take the man-motorcycle relationship to the next level in absolute comfort. For connoisseurs of technology, ABS, Ducati Traction Control and Ducati Riding Modes deliver a confidence-inspiring sophistication while stunning looks, 162hp and 207kg (456lb) of authentic Ducati performance drives a comfortable new sport lifestyle. Merging the worlds of power and style has been achieved with convincing precision. A specially engineered 240 section rear tyre combined with famous Ducati chassis technology serves up mind-blowing handling and lean angles, whether carving through curves or just riding out for a night on the town.

The latest ground-breaking Ducati is available in two versions: The brand new Diavel and the flagship Diavel Carbon with a character-forming mix of aesthetic and performance components from carbon fibre bodywork to forged and specially machined Marchesini wheels.

The long list of updates to the Monster family is now highlighted by the arrival of the Monster 1100EVO, which further enhances the Monster family’s defining concepts of functionality, style and sport with a full evolution of the flagship model. Taking its name from the Desmodue Evoluzione engine, which now delivers a milestone 100hp, the 1100EVO rolls out with a fully redesigned exhaust system, comfort-enhancing new seat and 20mm bar-riser, Marzocchi front suspension, refined tail-end, bold Corse-style graphics and the new Ducati Safety Pack (DSP) consisting of ABS and new 4-level Ducati Traction Control (DTC).

The new 1100EVO jewel of the Monster family will stand alongside the 2011 Monster range of 696 and 796, enhanced with revised ergonomics, Marzocchi front suspension and new sub-frame ready for the Ducati Performance grab-rail accessory, in addition to the 696’s new dark stealth and stone white colour schemes.

The award-winning and highly successful Ducati Multistrada 1200 moves into 2011 having proved its innovative concept and established itself as a new industry benchmark. Its ground-breaking design and unprecedented technology grabbed headlines all over the world since its arrival in March 2010 and the Multistrada’s 2011 entry without modification confirms the model’s high quality engineering.

Described as “sport bike perfection”, the 2011 Superbike model line-up presents the exciting new 848EVO with 140hp, Brembo Monobloc callipers, steering damper and stunning new arctic white silk colour scheme with red frame and red wheels and dark stealth finish with black frame and black wheels. The 1198 now comes equipped with Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Quick Shifter (DQS) and Ducati Data Analyser (DDA) as standard equipment while the brand new, track-ready 1198 SP rolls out with DTC, DQS, DDA, Ohlins TTX rear suspension, slipper clutch and lightweight aluminium fuel tank.

The application of DTC to the standard model 1198 underlines Ducati’s intention to broaden the use of tried and tested race-derived electronics to its high-powered range, while the introduction of DQS to the 1198 and 1198 SP marks the first time in history that “quick-shift” electronics have been fitted to a production Ducati.

For 2011, Ducati’s aggressive naked with “the soul of a Superbike and the attitude of a fighter” arrives full of aesthetic updates. The Streetfighter gets a new arctic white colour scheme, while the Streetfighter S gets a matching red Trellis frame for the red version and a racing black frame for the new diamond black. Both Streetfighter models get radiator covers in a new subtle black finish and both colour schemes of the ‘S’ now have black wheels.

In addition to the 2011 range of motorcycles, Ducati also presents the new and dynamic collection of accessories and apparel designed for performance, style and safety.

DUCATI LAUNCHES THE MONSTER 796

Diposkan oleh Pengetahuan dan Pengalaman on Saturday, April 24, 2010

The 'Urban Icon'

The Monster family introduces the 796, an exciting addition to the line-up that combines the user-friendliness of the 696 with the sports character of the 1100. Delivering 87hp (64kW)and a dry weight of just 167kg, the stylish new Monster 796 returns the magic of mid-range to the Monster family.

The Monster 796 is fitted with the micro-bikini fairing and single seat cover as standard and features a new seat designed with a comfort-enhancing shape, further accentuated with stylish red stitching. Additional new features also include a rear sub-frame constructed ready to accept new accessory grab-handles designed to provide a confidence-inspiring grip for the passenger, while blending into the natural line of the tail-end.

The riding position has also been revised by reducing the seat height by a full 10mm to 800mm, and the combination of redesigning the seat shape and raising the handlebars by 20mm has improved posture and increased comfort. With the brand new Desmodue 796 engine at the heart of the machine, a single-sided swingarm and revised ergonomics, the Monster 796 perfectly balances lifestyle performance with everyday functionality to enhance the original Monster spirit.

The new Monster 796 comes in traditional Ducati Red, new Arctic White Silk or Diamond Black Silk. All three colours are set against a red Trellis frame and black wheels, which feature a new short-style red flash around the rim side that creates a full red stripe at speed.

Launched as an early 2011 model, the Monster 796, which will be available in Europe from late April 2010 onwards (Australasia from July), opens a new road to the world of Ducati Monster and becomes the 'urban icon' of hand-built Italian naked motorcycles.

STONER OUT NEXT 3 GP'S-KALLIO / FABRIZIO PROMOTED

Diposkan oleh Pengetahuan dan Pengalaman on Saturday, August 15, 2009

words: Todd Sutherland
Factory Ducati and title contender Casey Stoner has announced that he will not be riding in the next three Grands Prix. Stoner has suffered from a mystery virus and is confident that a full rest period will aid a healthy return.
A game of musical chairs will see Mika Kallio on Stoner's bike, with World Superbike Ducati pilot, Michel Fabrizio landing on Kallio's Pramac Ducati.
Don't hold your breath for any results though. Stoner has long been the only rider (ironically since Capirossi was sacked two seasons ago) capable of running at the front on the Italian marque.
Kallio is the top Ducati rider in the Pramac team, sitting in 15th place in the championship. Niccolo Canepa, Pramac's other rider, is the only other full time championship rider with less points in the championship. In fact if you add Nicky Hayden's (the other works Ducati rider) championship points to the other two Ducati riders totals, you'll find an unwell Stoner still has 40 points more than the trio combined, by himself!

Let's hope that Fabrizio's recent racing at this weekends Brno circuit (he podiumed in the second race, at the World Superbike round, mid July) will give Ducati some kind of result in Stoner's absence.
