A graduate from Sydneham college, Mumbai, Sameera has two sisters, Sushma Reddy and Meghna Reddy. Both of them are famous vee-jays today
Sam, as she is lovingly called, began her career with modeling for brands like “Lissome”. All of 17, she was seen in a music video “Ahista” by Pankaj Udhas before she plunged into Bollywood. In the Hindi film industry, she debuted with “Maine Dil Tujhko Diya” opposite Salman Khan’s brother Sohail Khan.
Then came an array of films which gradually gave Sameera fame and success. These were “Darna Mana Hai”, “Plan”, “Musafir” and “Taxi No. 9211”. She was lucky enough to be a part of big projects and work with veterans like Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty and Mahesk Manjrekar.
Her latest flick “Fool N Final” could not create magic at the box office but this has not deterred the determination of this very confidant young lass.
These days, Sameera is trying to strike a balance between her regular commercial films and her off beat films. After doing “Kaalpurush” with her favourite Bengali director, Budhadeb Bhattacharya, she is all set to work in his next film titled “Me Yasim and Madhubala”, where she plays the role of Madhubala, a Kathak dancer. This film takes on voyeurism and how the advent of mobile cameras has hindered the privacy of women.
Sameera is also doing a short film on AIDS awareness with Mira Nair. She is too excited about this film for it has some real hard hitting facts portrayed in a very unique manner.
Sameera has also done Telegu films named “Jai Chiranjeeva” and “Narasimhudu”.
A fitness freak Sameera, is never lazy for her Yoga and swimming lessons. She loves to eat healthy and stay active. Her diet includes a lot of green veggies and her favourite food is Sushi- raw fish cooked in rice. Though she is moody, she loves to live life one day at a time.
