Coming to the year 2003. the same lady in a different context ; Cricket. A television presenter for the 2003 World cup programme Xtraa Innings, who was surrounded with a mixed response. She shot to fame for bringing an extra element to the game of cricket. At the same time, she was deeply criticized for her sense of dressing which according to many, did not suit the image of a cricket hostess. It was Mandira Bedi yet again!
Born in April 1972 in Mumbai, Mandira studied at the Cathedral and John Connon School in Mumbai. She married film director Raj Kaushal in 1999. At present they live in Bandra. She began her film debut as a side heroine in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge. She has not done much films. Her last release was Shaadi Ke Ladoo, directed by her hubby, Raj.
Mandira has hosted shows like Fame Gurukul and Deal Ya No Deal. She had even done a role in Ekta Kapoor’s “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi” as a character with grey shades. She was greatly appreciated for her acting abilities. Some of her other serials include Papa Ban Gaye Hero and Ghaar Jamai.
Another controversy that has hit Mandira is about her saree with the national flag at the bottom, near her feet in one episode of Xtra Innings. This fumed anger among the Indian nationalists and her designer Satya Paul was also accused for designing such a sari.
The future seems bright for this beauty with brain woman. She is part of Sanjay Gupta short film selection titled “Dus Kahaniya”. This 10 minute long film will have Arbaaz Khan and Sudhanshu Pandey. The film revolves around the three characters and is based on the lines of infidelity.
Though Mandira has not been seen in movies from quite a long time, we hope that she makes a powerful come back very soon.
