Peri, as her friends call her, had no aspirations to join films. She initially began her career, helping her father in his poultry business. It was during this time that she met a model coordinator, Mona Irani, who coaxed her to do a few modeling assignments.
Still on with her modeling, Zorabian did theatre and television serials simultaneously. She did a play by Kunal Vijayakar, named “Unfaithful” and also did a serial for Sony “Hum Pardesi Ho Gaye”. That marked the beginning for this smart and confidant young girl and Peri has not looked back since.
As a lead heroine, Perizaad debuted with Subhash Ghai’s “Jogger’s Park” opposite Victor Banerjee. Her character, “Jenny” was that of a young attractive girl whom Jatin (played by Victor), a middle aged man, falls in love with. Critics called the movie “an unusual, breezy and light hearted story”.
Then came “Mumbai Matinee”, “Morning Raga” and “Ek Ajnabi” which faired moderately at the box office. She has also done guest appearances in films like “Just Married” and “Dhoom”.
Perizaad’s film “Morning Raga” with Shabana azmi, was critically acclaimed as a culmination of modern with the traditional. Though it had huge chances of being nominated to the Oscars, the film lost out to ‘Paheli’ -- Palekar's saga of a ghost who falls in love with a Rajasthani bride.
Perizaad has quite a few films lined up for release including N. Chandra’s “Breaking news”, the thriller “Highway 203”, one night comedy “Kabhi Up Kabhi Down” and Meghna Gulzar’s “Baat Pakki”.
She married Boman Irani, a real estate developer, in 2006 and is now expecting her first baby. She is a go-getter and surely knows which films she wants to do and how to get it.
